The   Second   Hand   Prose   bookshop   at   the   Miller   Memorial   Library   is   sponsored   by   the Friends   of   the   Hamden   Library   and   has   been   in   operation   since   the   1980s.   It   offers   a complete   range   of   books,   CDs   and   DVDs,   audio   books   for   all   range   groups,   puzzles, classics,   non-fiction   and   fiction.   At   any   time   there   are   ten   to   twelve   thousand   titles   all   of which   have   been   donated   by   the   public.   Each   book   is   carefully   examined   to   ensure   that it is in pristine condition. Most range from $.25 to $2.00.

Run   by   volunteers.   All   proceeds   go   to   the   three   branches   of   the   library   to   help   fund children’s   programs.   We   help   sponsor   summer   reading   programs   for   children   and   teens, and   the   winter   reading   program   for   adults.   The   museum   and   attraction   pass   program   is fully funded by the Friends as well.      If   you   love   books   you   owe   it   to   yourself   to   visit   us   and   be   pleasantly   surprised   by   what you find.
